🏆Top Stocks — Rankings by Themes and Why Stocks Are Included
Top Stocks — Rankings by Theme and Why Stocks Are Included
Imagine walking into a large bookstore. You can approach it in two ways. Either you come with the question “I want a book about space” and head straight to the astronomy shelf. Or you come with the question “I want reading material that will teach me to think systematically” and ask for advice on how to choose books. Both are legitimate. It's just a different path to the goal.
This is exactly how the Top Stocks (/top-akcie) tab works in relation to the Strategy (/strategy) tab. In this article, the QMA team will show you how to use the first shelf — thematic rankings — to provide real value.
★ Insight: Top Stocks answer the question “WHAT.” The Strategy tab answers the question “HOW.” Once you clarify this from the start, you'll stop confusing these two sections and start using them together — like a map and a compass.

1. What the Top Stocks Tab Is Actually For
There are thousands of stocks on the market, and we score over 7,700 daily through our five-pillar model. If the platform just dumped a huge table on you, you'd drown. Top Stocks solves this problem by sorting stocks into thematic boxes — categories, each with a clear idea.
Instead of “show me all stocks” you ask specifically:
- “Which companies have the profile of a potential multibagger?” → Multibagger Candidates
- “Which companies are aggressively buying back their own shares?” → Uber Cannibals
- “Which companies are quality compound growth machines?” → Quality Compounders
- “Where are insiders buying with conviction?” → Insider Conviction
- “Which struggling companies are turning around?” → Turnarounds
- “What would the institutional configuration of large firms buy?” → Top Composite
- “Which companies reliably increase their dividend?” → Dividend Kings
★ Insight: Category = thesis, not a random list. When you understand what question the category asks, you'll also understand why a particular stock is in it — and especially, when it will no longer be.
---
2. Difference: Theme vs. Methodology
| Top Stocks | Strategy | |
|---|---|---|
| Question | “I want stocks of type X” | “I want approach Y” |
| Axis | Theme / company character | Methodology / trading method |
| Example | “Show me multibaggers” | “Show me how to trade a swing breakout” |
| Output | Ranking of stocks sharing a trait | Process: entry, exit, risk management, backtest |
★ Insight: Theme without methodology is just a shopping list. If you find an interesting stock but don't have an approach to buy, hold, and sell it, you don't have a strategy — you have a tip. And a tip without a risk management plan is the quickest path to loss.

3. Anatomy of Categories
Multibagger Candidates — companies with a profile of potential multiple growth (small/mid-cap, often after a drop, signs of a turnaround). The riskiest and most misunderstood category.
Uber Cannibals — companies that “devour themselves” by aggressively buying back their own shares (fewer shares = larger share of profit).
Quality Compounders — high-quality companies with consistent capital returns. “Boring but reliable” machines.
Insider Conviction — companies where insiders are buying their own shares with conviction (cluster, higher volumes).
Turnarounds — struggling companies with signs of a turnaround. Highly risky — the risk of 100% loss is real.
Top Composite — special institutional configuration (not “top 20 from the screener”). Capitalization ≥ $1 billion, major exchanges, highest percentile composite score, monthly rebalance.
★ Insight: Top Composite is the institutional “default.” When you don't know where to start and want robust broad exposure to the best-rated large companies, this is the least exotic choice.

4. How to Read the Per-Stock Detail Panel (Heart of the Tab)
For each stock, you expand a detailed panel that answers three key questions: Why is it here? When is it no longer attractive? What is the profit and risk ratio?
a) Why the stock is in the category (✓/✗ criteria) — a specific list of ✓ and ✗ with real values next to thresholds:
| Criterion | Threshold | Current | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Market Capitalization | $50 million–$10 billion | $1.2 billion | ✓ |
| Distance from 12M High | ≥ 20% | 24% | ✓ |
| Insider Cluster (30d) | ≥ 3 people | 1 person | ✗ |
b) When it entered + how long it has been in it — entry date and duration.
c) Fundamentals and inflection signals — first profitable quarter, first positive FCF/OCF, growth acceleration.
d) Entry/exit plan — current price, 12M range, 2×/5×/10× scenarios, stop (for multibaggers “wide stops, long holding”).
e) Risks and warnings — sector cyclicality, “trade not investment” in squeeze, “100% loss” in turnarounds, liquidity.
f) Citations (data as-of) — timestamp of each value.
★ Insight: The detail panel tells you WHEN a stock stops being attractive. When ✓ criteria gradually flip to ✗ (price shoots to the maximum, fit decreases, insiders stop buying), the thesis weakens. Watch why the stock is there — and once that reason disappears, so does the reason to hold it.
---
5. Cross-Strategy Top-12
The widget above the rankings takes the best pick from each strategy and places them side by side — with thesis, statistics (WR, alpha, t-stat, n), and a link. It creates 11 conversion paths from one view.
★ Insight: The cross-strategy widget fights tunnel vision. When a title appears in multiple rankings simultaneously, it's a stronger signal than a solitary occurrence.
---
6. Practical Procedure
- Start with yourself. Do I want stability (Top Composite, Quality, Dividend Kings) or risk for potential (Multibagger, Turnarounds)?
- Open a category and go through the first 5–10.
- Expand the detail panel. Look for titles that passed robustly (many ✓, no critical ✗).
- Check “when entered / how long held.”
- Read risks and entry/exit plan. Does the horizon fit you (multibagger = years)? Liquidity?
- Look at the cross-strategy widget — does another approach confirm the title?
- Pair with methodology (/strategy).
- Keep a journal — note why you entered.
7. Tips
- Read fit score, not rank. A stock in 3rd place with a 95% fit may be more robust than 1st place due to one extreme metric.
- Watch “distance from 12M high.” A title glued to the annual high may have an exhausted thesis.
- Respect the category's time horizon. Multibagger = years and wide stops.
- Cross-strategy widget as a trust filter. Convergence > solitary signal.
- Start with Top Composite if unsure.
8. Common Mistakes
Blindly taking the entire ranking. The ranking is not a shopping list — it's a field of candidates for exploration. Go through the detail, choose 3–5 you understand.
Ignoring survivorship bias in multibaggers. Academic “profiles of multibaggers” often describe how winning companies looked at the end, not at entry. Our engine is empirically calibrated to the entry state of real winners. Even so: from a ranking of dozens of candidates, realistically only a handful will become true multibaggers. It's a research tool, not a prediction.
Confusing theme with strategy. Finding a stock ≠ having a plan.
★ Insight: The ranking gives you a narrower field. The detail panel gives you understanding. The methodology gives you a plan. The journal gives you discipline. Only all four together form a process.
---
Summary
Top Stocks are your thematic shelf — 17 rankings, each with a clear thesis (answers “I want stocks of type X”). The detail panel is the heart (why it's there, when it's not, profit/risk, citations). The cross-strategy widget opens 11 paths of discovery. The shelf selects candidates for you — understanding them, assessing risk, and building a plan is still up to you.
