📡Radar Market Movers — What's Moving Today and Most Importantly WHY
Radar Market Movers — what's moving today and most importantly WHY
Imagine a fighter pilot. In the cockpit, there are dozens of instruments, but the first thing they look at is: the radar. Not to find out exactly where every plane is to the last meter, but to immediately know: What's moving around me? From where? And is it friendly or a threat? Only then do they begin to act.
The Radar Market Movers tab in QMA does exactly this for the stock market. It's not a list of stocks or a screener with filters. It's a morning situational overview — one glance that tells you in a few minutes the state of the market, what's moving prices today, and — this is the most valuable part — why it's moving.
★ Insight: Most beginners look at the market as a list of numbers — “this stock is +12%, I'll buy." A pro looks at the market as a story — “this stock is +12% because it beat earnings and institutions have been quietly accumulating it for two weeks; the move has fuel." The radar puts that story together for you.

What the Radar is actually for
The market generates thousands of movements every day. Some are important, most are noise. The Radar filters and explains this. It answers four questions that everyone should ask themselves every morning before opening a single chart:
- Is the market healthy or nervous today? (Market Pulse)
- What is today's main story? (Daily AI briefing)
- Where are the smart money behaving — where are they quietly flowing? (Accumulation radar + Sector flows)
- What is moving the most specifically and WHY? (Top movers + Unusual activity)
★ Insight: The Radar is a "read-only" tool for understanding, not for execution. First understand the terrain (Radar) → then look for opportunity (Screener) → then verify who's behind it (Smart Money) → then explore the stock in depth (stock detail). The Radar is always the first step.

Section by section
1. Market Pulse — gauge 0 to 100
At the top, right next to the main banner, is a gauge 0–100 like a speedometer. Your first information of the day: how healthy is the market as a whole today.
- Above 60 = bullish, healthy environment. The market has strength, momentum works.
- 40 to 60 = neutral, undecided. The market is "waiting." Caution, smaller positions.
- Below 40 = bearish, nervous. Fear prevails, movements are sharper and less reliable.
★ Insight: Don't use the Market Pulse as a switch for "when to buy." Use it as a regulator of size and caution. It changes how you trade, not whether you trade at all.
2. Daily AI briefing — what's moving the market and why
A short summary of today from AI: what is driving or dragging the market, which sector is in the spotlight, what macro event is in play. As if you sat down with an analyst and asked, "so what's happening today?"
Example of how the briefing changes interpretation:
- Without briefing: “NVDA is −4% today, probably a bad stock."
- With briefing: “NVDA is −4%, but the briefing says the entire tech sector is falling due to rising yields — it's not a company problem, it's macro."
★ Insight: The briefing gives you the theme of the day. Nine out of ten "surprising" movements are just manifestations of one big theme that the briefing names.
3. Accumulation radar — where institutions are quietly accumulating
Accumulation = a big player quietly and gradually buys a stock without driving it sharply upwards. The radar looks for clues: increased volume without a big price move, repeated purchases "at the bottom," smart money flows.
Why it's gold: accumulation often precedes movement. When an institution accumulates for weeks, the price may not move yet — but the fuel for a later takeoff is accumulating. Stocks from the Accumulation radar should be taken as a "watchlist for exploration," not an automatic buy.
★ Insight: The difference between accumulation and a regular purchase is like the difference between someone quietly buying up land around a planned highway and someone buying a house because it's nice.
4. Unusual activity — abnormal volumes and option flows
Monitors anomalies: where volume appeared much higher than usual, unusual option flows. Unusual volume is a fingerprint of a big player.
★ Insight: Unusual activity is "smoke." Smoke itself doesn't mean fire, but it's always worth checking out what caused it. Never react just to "big volume" without understanding the direction and cause.
5. Sector flows — where the money is flowing
Shows where money is flowing today and where it's fleeing among the 11 sectors. Sector rotation is often the main story of the market. Inflows into cyclical sectors (energy, materials, banks) often indicate optimism; fleeing into defensive (utilities, healthcare) caution.
★ Insight: Old trader's rule: “The sector makes half the stock's move." Sector flows show you which way the current is flowing.
6. Top movers of the day — gainers and losers with an explanation of WHY
A classic, but with a key difference: for top movers, we try to explain the cause. A move with an understood cause is information; a move without a cause is a gamble.
- Gainer with a clear catalyst (earnings, drug approval) — the move has fuel.
- Gainer without a cause — speculation, manipulation, or hidden catalyst. A trap for latecomers.
- Loser due to sector/macro — possible opportunity (a good company dragged down "with the bathwater").
- Loser due to the company (earnings disappointment) — warning, not a discount.
★ Insight: The same +15% move means two different things depending on the cause. “+15% because they beat earnings by 30%" is strength. “+15% with no news on low volume" is often a trap.
7. Weekly summary and outlook
AI-generated weekly summary — a broader view than today. Read it on Sunday evening / Monday morning. Daily briefing = tactics; weekly outlook = strategy.
---
Why "WHY it's moving" beats "THAT it's moving"
Beginner's instinct: “It's rising! I'll jump in!" And this is exactly where most accounts die. The move itself tells you nothing about what will happen next. A stock +25% can continue upwards (strong catalyst) or collapse immediately (exhausted speculation). The difference isn't in the price — it's in the WHY.
Catalysts have different qualities:
- Strong, lasting: exceeded earnings with raised guidance, product approval, long-term accumulation. Fuel for days to weeks.
- Weak, fleeting: one speculative news, "hype" on social media, technical bounce. They fade quickly.
★ Insight: FOMO (fear of missing out) arises precisely when you see "THAT something is moving" and don't see "WHY". The cure for FOMO isn't discipline by willpower — it's understanding. The Radar is essentially an anti-FOMO tool.

Morning routine with the Radar (5 minutes)
- Open the Radar as the very first thing. Even before charts.
- Glance at the Market Pulse (10 s). Sets the tone of the day and your position size.
- Read the daily briefing (1 min). Find out the theme of the day.
- Check Accumulation radar and Sector flows (1–2 min). Where to hunt.
- Go through Top movers and Unusual activity (1–2 min). What's moving and why?
- Connect with Screener and Smart Money. Transfer candidates from the Radar to the Screener and open Smart Money + stock detail for the best ones.
★ Insight: Five minutes in the morning with the Radar saves you dozens of bad impulsive decisions during the day.
---
How to connect Radar → Smart Money → stock detail
- Radar — Accumulation shows stock "ABCD" where signals of quiet buying are accumulating.
- Radar — Unusual activity confirms unusual volume but only slight price movement → fits with accumulation.
- Smart Money section — verify "who and how strongly" (confluence score, dark pool, insider, options, 13F). Look for agreement of multiple signals.
- Stock detail — open ABCD in depth (5-pillar, fundamentals, technical picture) and decide if it holds up.
★ Insight: The strength of QMA is in confluence — when Radar, Smart Money, and stock detail show the same story from different angles. One signal can deceive. Four independent signals in the same direction is a pattern.
---
Tips
Tip 1 — Make the Radar a ritual, not randomness. Consistency builds intuition.
Tip 2 — Always look for a catalyst before doing anything. If you don't know the answer to "why," find it or leave it alone.
Tip 3 — Use sector flows to choose hunting grounds. Swim with the current.
Tip 4 — Accumulation radar = future watchlist. Accumulation precedes movement by days to weeks.
Tip 5 — Align position size with the Market Pulse.
---
Common mistakes
Mistake 1 — Chasing movement without understanding why (FOMO). The most common and costly. If you can't answer "why," don't enter.
Mistake 2 — Ignoring the Market Pulse. The environment is half the equation.
Mistake 3 — Confusing unusual volume with direction. Volume can be buying or selling.
Mistake 4 — Taking the Radar as a final command. The Radar is the first step, not the last.
Mistake 5 — Reacting to every move. Most are not for you.
★ Insight: The best trade is often the one you don't enter because you understood that the move has no fuel.
---
Summary
Radar Market Movers is your morning situational overview — in five minutes, it answers four key questions: what is the environment (Pulse), what is the theme of the day (briefing), where are smart money accumulating (accumulation + sector flows), and what is moving and why (top movers + unusual activity). Its greatest value is not in showing you that something is moving — it's in forcing you to understand why, thus protecting you from FOMO.
