Short Squeeze Candidates 2026 — QMA ranking
Stocks with high short interest + improving fundamentals + accelerating momentum. For short-term tactical exposure (high risk).
A short squeeze happens when shorts are forced to cover → price spikes. QMA looks for high WHS (elevated FINRA off-exchange volume share and institutional activity), high TSS (breakout in progress), rising composite. A squeeze is a short-lived phenomenon, not a long-term investment thesis. In the historical test the model used a fixed exit level below the entry price and an exit band 20–50% above it; individual positions carried a very small weight in the simulation because the dispersion of outcomes is extreme. This describes the model, not a position-sizing instruction.
This short squeeze candidates ranking is assembled by the QMA analytical engine from the current composite score and this category's filters — sorted from the highest rating. Recomputed daily. It is not a backtest result. This is a descriptive analytical assessment, not investment advice.
